Dana Brown is a third year doctoral student at the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders and a scholar on the Bilingual Oral Language and Literacy Development (BOLLD) grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education. Dana’s first year of study at FSU focused on coursework, Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts (SALT) software training, and studying the African American English dialect. Her advisor is Dr. Shannon Hall-Mills.
Dana’s research interests include language disorders in children, the study of language and literacy development in African American English speaking communities, and various ways that parental involvement and socioeconomic status influences the development of language and literacy in children. |
