Claire Wofford graduated August 2019 from the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders and a Bilingual Oral Language and Literacy Development (BOLLD) funded member. Her work on the BOLLD grant consists of participating in specialized coursework focusing on typical and atypical bilingual language development, interfacing with specialists in bilingual oral language and literacy, and developing rigorous research methods for independent investigation.
Claire’s clinical and research interests include typical and atypical bilingual language development, involving and collaborating with Spanish-speaking families in treatment, vocabulary learning in dual language learners, bilingual language and literacy development in international contexts, increasing access to services for culturally- and linguistically-diverse populations, and training SLPs to work with culturally- and linguistically-diverse clients. |
Current Projects:
Claire is currently investigating home language environments, including the quality, quantity, and sources of language input provided to young dual language learners. She is testing the effect of a word-counting device with visual feedback on the number of adult words delivered to young children.
